About PublicListen

Healthcare should be transparent.
We're making sure it is.

PublicListen is an independent, patient-first healthcare intelligence platform. We surface verified reviews, real treatment costs, and unbiased provider data — so patients can make informed decisions, not guess in the dark.

Our mission

To put patients back in the driver's seat of their own healthcare.

For decades, healthcare decisions have been opaque. You pick a hospital because a friend mentioned it. You agree to a treatment quote without knowing what others paid. You read 5-star reviews that may have been bought.

We built PublicListen to break that pattern. Every review on our platform is tied to a verified patient visit. Every cost data point comes from a real bill. Every ranking is earned — never paid for.

If a patient walks into a hospital knowing exactly what to expect — in care quality, in waiting time, in cost — that visit goes better. That's the entire reason this platform exists.

"
The patient is the only one in the room who didn't sign up to be there. They deserve the most information, not the least.
— PublicListen founding principle
Our principles

Six rules we don't break.

These aren't marketing lines. They're the operating constraints we wrote on day one — and the reason hospitals can't pay us to change a ranking.

PRINCIPLE 01

Every review is verified

No anonymous rants. No bought stars. Every reviewer proves they were a real patient at the provider, with a real visit date, before their words go live.

PRINCIPLE 02

Zero sponsored rankings

Hospitals and doctors cannot pay to rank higher. Period. There is no premium tier, no boosted listing, no "featured by sponsor." We refuse all of it.

PRINCIPLE 03

Costs come from real bills

Our cost ranges are derived only from uploaded, verified patient bills — never from hospital-quoted "estimates" or insurance reimbursement averages.

PRINCIPLE 04

Your identity stays private

We verify you, but we never show your real name without consent. Reviewers appear with display names, billing data is fully anonymized before publishing.

PRINCIPLE 05

We don't sell your data

No data brokers. No "anonymous health insights" sold to pharma. Your information powers the platform — it is never sold, traded, or licensed.

PRINCIPLE 06

Providers get a fair right of reply

Hospitals and doctors can respond to any review publicly. We don't hide criticism, and we don't allow defamation. Every claim must be substantiated.

How verification works

Trust isn't claimed. It's earned, one check at a time.

This is the four-step process that every review and cost data point passes through before it appears on PublicListen.

1

Visit proof

Reviewers upload a discharge summary, prescription, or appointment SMS — proving they were actually treated.

2

Identity check

Mobile OTP + email confirm a single human is behind each review. Duplicate accounts get flagged automatically.

3

Content moderation

Our team and AI reviewers check for defamation, hate, PII leaks, and off-topic content before publishing.

4

Right of reply

The provider sees the review and can respond. Patients can edit. Disputes go to neutral resolution.

What we value

The non-negotiables of how we work.

Patients first — always

Every product decision starts with one question: does this make the next patient's decision better, faster, or safer? If the answer is no, we don't build it.

Radical transparency

Our methodology, our funding sources, our review-removal policy — all public. If we can't justify something openly, we don't do it.

Fairness to providers

Doctors and hospitals work hard. We make sure every published criticism is substantiated, every reply is published, and every dispute reaches resolution.

Data discipline

If we can't verify it, we don't publish it. If we can't explain how a number was calculated, we don't show it.

Community over competition

This platform belongs to patients who contribute. Their bills, reviews, and insights are the foundation — and they deserve credit for it.

Our story

How we got here.

From a frustrated patient experience to a platform mapping thousands of providers — the short version.

2023 · The spark

One bad hospital decision

Our founder's family paid 3× the local average for a routine procedure — because there was no public way to know what "fair" looked like. That experience triggered a year of research into healthcare transparency in India.

2024 · The prototype

First 100 verified reviews

We built a closed-beta tool to collect verified patient reviews in two metro cities. Within three months, 100 reviewers with verified visit proofs joined. The signal-to-noise ratio was unlike anything we'd seen.

2025 · Public launch

PublicListen goes live

The platform opens publicly with verified reviews, real cost insights, and doctor + hospital directories. The first 1,000 patient bills are uploaded within weeks of launch.

2026 · Scaling trust

Expanding the data layer

Today, PublicListen maps thousands of providers across India, supports 20+ languages, and remains 100% free for patients to use and contribute to. Every milestone is patient-driven.

What we are not

We're not for sale. Here's what we will never become.

We get asked these questions often. The answer is always no — and these "no's" are part of the product.

  • We are not a paid review platform. Hospitals cannot buy stars.
  • We are not a lead-generation funnel. We don't sell patient contact info.
  • We are not a directory clone. Every entry is independently validated.
  • We are not a data broker. Health data is never resold, period.
  • We are not a medical advice service. We surface signal — your doctor decides care.
  • We are not sponsored by any hospital chain. Independence is the product.
