How we calculate the real range.

Every cost on PublicListen is derived from verified patient bills uploaded by the patient who paid. We never accept cost data from hospitals.

• Patient-sourced.Only patients who paid can contribute a bill. Bills are cryptographically hashed on upload.
• Identity verified.Contributors verify identity without publishing it. We publish costs, never names.
• Outliers trimmed.We show the 10th–90th percentile range so a single unusual case doesn't distort the signal.
• Refreshed monthly.Ranges are recomputed every month to reflect current pricing.
